Paige

As one of the seven human protagonists in Favor of Athena, she occupies a unique position among mortals whose lives become entwined with divine forces. Driven by behavioralist insight, personal conviction, and a relentless curiosity about human nature, she approaches the world with a mixture of analytical discipline and emotional intensity. Her academic background, creative talents, and emerging supernatural abilities place her at the intersection of psychology, craftsmanship, and celestial influence.

APPEARANCE

She stands at an average height with a slender frame and a pale complexion that gives her a soft, understated presence. Her brunette hair is styled with chin-length strands in the front and a stacked, layered cut in the back, parted sharply from left to right. Her brown eyes often appear thoughtful or observant, reflecting her tendency to analyze the world around her. She favors simple, unembellished clothing—plain tees, jeans, and neutral tones—preferring practicality over fashion and avoiding anything overly flashy.

HISTORY

Early Life: She was raised alongside an older brother, a dynamic that helped shape both her independence and her habit of observing rather than immediately engaging. Her early interests in crafting, storytelling, and human behavior eventually guided her toward her major in psychology at Princeton University, where she developed a firm belief that experiences define a person’s identity. Her life took a dramatic shift when she became tied to Athena, gaining abilities rooted in astral perception and instinctive danger awareness, marking the transition from an ordinary academic path to an extraordinary one.

Familiar of Athena (Favor of Athena Issues 1, Lust Part 1): During the funeral of her friend Teresa Jarvis, she is weighed down by guilt over a fight the two had the night before Teresa and her family were assaulted and murdered, convinced that her absence contributed to Teresa not being with the group. Liam attempts to reassure her that she is not to blame, but her stubborn refusal to accept comfort only deepens her sense of personal responsibility. The funeral is violently disrupted when Arachne appears—visible to Paige and the others, though the rest of the attendees remain unaware of the creature’s presence or its effects. The group acts quickly to protect those in attendance, but Arachne soon shifts her focus to Paige, Liam, Scott, Warrick, Gregg, Ellen, and Gabriela. Athena arrives to defend them, but the encounter leaves her fatally wounded. Before Arachne flees, outnumbered, Athena grants her favor to the seven and awakens their auras, binding them to the celestial power she carries. She tells them she is investigating the murders and gives them the choice to join her or have the memories of the funeral erased; all seven choose to stand with her, becoming part of the organization.

Issue 2, Lust Part 2: Under Ares, their new captain, they learn that choosing not to remain would mean forced erasure of the funeral from their minds. They are introduced to their handler, James, who provides information about the case and the serial killer responsible. Divided into investigative teams to search the graveyard for signs that Teresa’s soul may have lingered or witnessed the attack, Paige is paired with Liam. Their search brings them face-to-face with a harpy named Frost, and soon after the entire group is attacked by Charon. Paige taps into her newly awakened powers to defend them, but it is Liam’s accidental bonding with Frost—activating the harpy’s ice abilities—that turns the tide. Once the harpy hears what they know, she reveals that Hades must be involved, shifting the investigation onto an even darker path.

PERSONALITY

She is an introverted but sharp-witted individual with an encyclopedic memory for pop culture and personal details alike. Her sarcasm, often wielded as fluently as her crafted tools, serves both as humor and as a shield. Though stubborn and resistant to asking for help, she is deeply giving, fiercely ethical, and motivated by a genuine desire to create positive change. She gravitates toward crafting, reading, films, and long contemplative walks, using each as a form of expression or grounding. Her behavioralist worldview shapes the way she interprets people, believing that every action traces back to an origin, and she seeks to understand those origins in everyone she meets.

POWERS & ABILITIES & ABILITIES

Astral Detection: She draws power from the astral plane, her eyes glowing purple as she perceives ghosts, astral creatures, and currents of astral energy.

Quills: Her aura allows her hair follicles to transform into retractable quills as strong as steel, capable of piercing concrete, launching as projectiles, detaching for use as weapons, or shaping into features such as horns, claws, or a tail.

Danger Sense: As a familiar of Athena, her body senses danger nearly twenty seconds before it occurs and reacts instinctively to dodge, evade, escape, or counterattack, often in sync with her other abilities.

Psychiatry: She studies psychology at Princeton University, bringing developing expertise in human behavior and mental processes.
