She felt Liam’s body move closer to hers as he embraced in a side hug. She wasn’t crying, not because she wasn’t sad. She didn’t cry, that’s who she was. She turned to look at him. He was new this year at Challenger. Both of them worked together at the cafeteria for their volunteer class. They hit it off and she invited him to the suite’s movie night that they shared with the boys from room 218. Only to find out he was their new roommate. A crazy coincidence. He was the youngest of them all, by a year, and was put into their suite due to overcrowding of his grade. He was short, about 5 ‘1, but he had stocky, messy spiky black hair. Despite being small, his ego made up for it. Something Paige had in common with him.
“I’m sorry, did you murder Hina and didn’t tell me? He didn’t smile as he tried to use humor. That’s how he was, always sarcastic or making silly remarks at the wrong time. This was one of those times. Paige narrowed her eyes and shot him a look of disapproval. .
“That isn’t funny, Liam.”
“Sorry, Paige, but you do realize that this isn’t your fault. You didn’t tell her to go to the party by herself.”
Paige pulled away from him, almost balling her fist to punch him. She thought about it and where she was. Then decided not to. Liam put his arms up in defense.
“I might as well have. IF it wasn’t for our fight, she would have left with all of us.”
“There is no way of knowing that, Paige. Don’t go down that road.” His words trailed off as Paige went back to the words they exchanged that night. She called Hina some terrible names and vice versa. If she could go back and do it again, she wouldn’t let her stubbornness get in the way. She had to be heard and she had to stand up for Ellen. Hina knew she was wrong, hell, even admitted it.
“…and there is no way of knowing that.” she responded to Liam.
