1. Why should you support Favor of Athena?
Good question. Look, I understand. We put our money in what we like or support. Some of us don’t want to hear a sales pitch. I get it. However, when you support Favor of Athena, it’s a little different.
First, as you see above, you get a personal acknowledgement from me. When was the last time Marvel Comics, Nike, or any of your popular brands acknowledge you personally? They don’t because they’re huge and know you’re going to buy their product or service. You are a number to them. To me, and my team, your support MEANS everything. That’s why we are doing monthly shout-outs.
2. I don’t read comics. so why should I support?
The goal is to use the comic as a VISUAL component to pitch as an animated movie, live-action film, television series. I’m trying to grow the brand like Men in Black, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, X-men, Avengers, The Walking Dead. These franchises started off as COMICS, before they became animated or live-action series. YOU can make that happen with your support, even if you don’t read the comic, your investment can help make this a reality. You will be credited for your support. Imagine your name in the film credits as “assistant producer” or “associate producer”.
3. How expensive is it?
I have a total of five tiers. Each tier has a benefit or reward. Again, when you buy or become a member of any other product, you are not acknowledge nor do you receive consistent service. Our lowest tier is $3 a month bronze package. The most expensive package is the diamond package for $240 a month. Right now the popular package is the silver package, which is $5 a month. All packages include a sales tax.
4. So, why do I need your support?
Well, making a single comic book issue is expensive. I work 9-5, so I can’t do the writing, drawing, inking, coloring, lettering, editing, publishing, and marketing by myself. I have a team, and hey, they need to be paid. Right now, I can only manage to produce two pages a month. Currently, that is around $300 a month. With your support, we can produce more pages, which would allow us to finished the graphic novel faster than our expected date in 2023.
5. So, again, why support Favor of Athena?
Some of my packages are cheaper than girl scout cookies, a fast food meal, coffee, and you’re supporting a great cause. With any additional money we make, I will support the following: Boysandgirlsclub, Lupus Foundation of America, The Breast Cancer Site, Blackgirlsrock, The Funders’ Collaborative on Youth Organizing – FCYO, Reel American Heroes Foundation. I believe in supporting women’s health, empowering black youths, providing children healthy organizations, Veterans, and those suffering from Lupus.
6. What about you, Terrio?
Hey, of course, I’m trying to make living as a comic book writer, but also as a screenwriter. Yes, the more I make from the Patreon, the more I can live out my childhood dreams. However, entertaining you with my stories is WHY I want to do this. Being able to help OTHERS through entertaining them with my stories or supporting the above organizations is my MISSION. It’s not about the money, I love making comics, but I can’t do it on my own. So, I’m not begging, but this is a call to action. The more support, the more I can give my all to writing the best stories I can. This is a business, and sales is a part of it. If I can get enough support monthly, I’m confident Favor of Athena will take off in the independent comic scene. At the end of the day, it’s not about me, though, it’s about
