Reason

A Measure of Intelligence, Logic, and Technical Aptitude

Definition
Reason represents a character’s intellectual capacity, including analytical thinking, problem-solving, and technical knowledge. It governs the ability to understand, operate, repair, and create technological systems or scientific concepts. Reason also contributes to the character’s Karma pool.

Rank Levels

Shift-0 (Sh-0)
The character is incapable of coherent thought. They cannot understand basic concepts or communicate meaningfully.
Example: Comatose individual, severely brain-damaged person.

Feeble (FB)
Below average intellectual ability. Can handle only very simple tasks and ideas.
Example: Very young child, individual with severe cognitive delay.

Poor (PR)
Limited understanding of technology or abstract thought. Can perform basic functions but struggles with complex instructions.
Example: Individual with minimal formal education or exposure to logic-based tasks.

Typical (TY)
Average reasoning skills. Can use modern tools and understand basic math, language, and technology.
Example: High school graduate, average adult capable of basic problem-solving.

Good (GD)
Above average intelligence and general understanding of how things work. Comfortable with practical problem-solving and familiar with common tools and systems.
Example: Mechanic, technician, or skilled hobbyist.

Excellent (EX)
Professional-level expertise in a technical or intellectual field. Can understand and modify existing systems and develop new solutions.
Example: Engineer, computer programmer, architect.

Remarkable (RM)
Among the brightest minds in a city or region. Has a strong grasp of complex technologies and abstract theories.
Example: Research scientist, systems analyst, inventor.

Incredible (IN)
Considered among the most intelligent individuals in a state or province. Able to master highly advanced or alien concepts with ease.
Example: University professor, theoretical physicist, tech innovator.

Amazing (AM)
Among the smartest individuals on a continent. Can design revolutionary technologies and solve problems thought to be unsolvable.
Example: Renowned thought leader, pioneering inventor, top-level AI architect.

Monstrous (MN)
Recognized nationally or globally for intelligence and innovation. Capable of reshaping scientific understanding or creating world-changing technologies.
Example: Visionary polymath, Nobel-level scientific innovator.

Unearthly (UN)
Practically beyond human comprehension. Understands all known science and conceives of technology or ideas that verge on the supernatural.
Example: Rare intellect capable of designing starships or discovering entirely new dimensions of thought.
